Do you like getting quill-written snail mail, possibly with a wax seal? If you follow my fox account below and comment “creepy” or “cozy,” I’ll choose someone and write you a bespoke Drabble in this card, and mail it to you! Open worldwide. Repost if you’re feeling kind ❤️
You wake in a nest of blankets, hemmed in on three sides by smooth wooden walls and a low curved ceiling. Nearby are the quiet sighs of a dying fire, the heavy silence of being utterly alone. You run your hand over the wood and find a shallow carving of wings. Then another. Then dozens more.
Book pals, help out a bookseller in need. My friend Colleen has been in painful chemo and the cancer has recently spread. Cancer (and capitalism) have taken her job as Books Inc ended her remote marketing job when BN took over. Please boost and/or donate if you can. www.gofundme.com/f/colleen-ca...

Whose bright idea was it to finish drafting a novel the same month as JordanCon, work performance reviews, and several crazy client deadlines? Mine? Wow that was rude of me.
Since I'm planning for paternity leave at the end of the summer, and not doing any events for a long time after, I put a virtual workshop together. So! If you or someone you know needs a hand polishing up their query + opening pages, this might be for you. www.ericsmithrocks.com/blog/2025/4/...
Query and First Pages Summer Workshop — ERIC SMITH
Well, summer is here. And I really wanted to host one more webinar or workshop before I logged off for paternity leave this August (surprise!), and found myself not doing any conferences for a while. ...

I thought I was going to finish my first draft this weekend after a very intense week of work, but am instead flying to my grandad’s funeral. Am taking comfort that I’ll be able to spend time with family but also I would very much like to sleep for approximately 4 years if at all possible

I forgot to play Wordle yesterday and lost my 1,160 day streak. No one talk to me 😭
I can’t believe other people are already photoshopping that picture of his phone. He was *clearly* admiring the cover of Violet Thistlewaite Is Not A Villain Anymore.

Looks like I’m going to hit 50k words in my manuscript either today or tomorrow. #amwriting

We are charmed to reveal the cover for @writersofrohan.bsky.social's cozy romantasy Violet Thistlewait Is Not a Villain Anymore! Witchy retirement is looking pretty sweet...but does a former villain truly deserve a happily-ever-after? reactormag.com/cover-reveal...

I drafted up my synopsis fairly easily at under three pages. How on EARTH do people cut it down to one page? Witchcraft! #writingcommunity
I’d choose the mildly homicidal sentient houseplant, personally 👀

This week in Pen Pals, an anonymous writer asked about how to accept critical feedback from editors and beta readers without feeling defensive. It's normal to feel stung about negative feedback, but what comes next is up to you. Learn more: penpalsforwriters.substack.com/p/your-edito...

Anyone going to Love Y’All Fest this weekend? I got a ticket for tomorrow only, but am going to try to cram as many panels in as I can
Tangled *and* Anastasia? 😍
TANGLED x ANASTASIA In a realm where people go to forget their worst memories, an orphan with Tourette’s recruits an infuriating pickpocket to help her win her own memories back, hoping to recall her lost family. #QuestPit #Q #YA #F
Judging by this reaction, I think my manuscript is coming together nicely 😅 Thanks @angelamcowan.bsky.social for the support!
Grief has a tendency to come out of nowhere. Recently set my IG to private and was going through the process of removing followers I didn’t know. Scrolled all the way to the bottom to see who my first follower was: a friend from college who passed away in 2023. Talk about a gut punch
My starting word count for each day and the number of words I wrote. That zero day was a sick day 😅
Really missing my #booktok community today, even though I spent most of my time there managing my husband’s author account. Who else is a #tiktokrefugee?
Pleased to share that I’ve been averaging 500 words a day in 2025! Some days have been *very* low, but I’m building a better habit #writingcommunity
