folks this is what Vote Blue No Matter Who actually means we buckle down and beat Mike Rogers in November no matter how this finishes

Just so everyone knows, this is a tried-and-true mainstream media tactic. For progressives/leftist candidates, every election is a “crucial test” and any loss would serve as proof to the media that the latest left-side moment is at its end. Any win, though, just means it’s time to find a new test.

Michigan will provide another crucial test of whether progressives can not only keep up their winning streak in safe-blue seats but also break through in battlegrounds crucial for control of Congress. The stakes for the Democratic Party are huge.

In "small but helpful things" I have been surprised at how much using resistance bands instead of free weights has helped me specifically target muscle groups for my shoulders and core. This is my journey to undo the damage of "20 years of hockey with no stretching"

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

An aircraft passenger oxygen mask: a drop down passenger mask with air bag and yellow plastic mouth and nose cover, oxygen tube has been cut; Demonstration model used by flight attendant crew for passenger instruction. Has text on the side indicating that it's non-functional.

When I was playing in bands/DJing around the Bay Area indie rock scene circa 2000s, I got flyers made by a friend who wanted to build up her design portfolio with fun projects. It's similar to how I built up my copywriting portfolio by volunteering for animal rescues. The resources are there.

I don't have any patience for the "but we're poor" argument for bands using AI for posters and publicity. Try to think back to roughly 3 years ago when you somehow coped without it.

I'd say that most (80-90%?) of the time people I know get covid, it's usually right after travel and an event with a lot of face to face time in extracurricular stuff (parties, karaoke, etc). FWIW my anecdotal flu stories tend to be more school/work. Both suck and can cause post-viral illness.

There's always a non-negligible number of folks that go from SDCC to GenCon. I hate to break it to you, but COVID is still a thing, conventions are still super spreaders, and you should still test and wear masks if you care about community at all!

I got Covid for the *first time* a few weeks ago and let me tell you, please fucking test before you go to an event. Don't be that asshole. And if you are positive stay the fuck home. Some performers and event folks can't mask. The least we can do is test, the best we can do is mask. ✨

I hate that we've memory-holed 2020. My spring 2020 experience was 1) seeing ambulances pulling out dying seniors from a downtown Palo Alto center 2) the GOP's claim of "brutal lockdown" was remote school for only spring/fall 2020, with masked return in Jan-and that was far stricter than most places

Back in 2020, as a pediatric hematologist married to a physician, we signed up to volunteer in a field hospital for patients with COVID. We wrote our wills and worried about getting our kids sick. I posted about terrifying outcomes in kids and received death threats. Fauci is a goddamn hero.

This whole exercise isn't about COVID-19 or Gain of Function research...this is about Congress putting a retired public servant through the wringer because they want to spook scientists. This is all a part of a plan to chill scientists from taking evidence-based and principled stands against govt.

I’m really liking @theunpopulist.net posts on India. We in the U.S., typically parochial, don’t pay enough attention to what’s going on over there despite its significance. But even just for American interests, Modi is the new Orban and a likely model for Trump www.theunpopulist.net/p/indias-gen...

But whether the mass youth movement can win the battle against his authoritarian misrule and nasty sectarianism remains to be seen

I left early for a media hit that got cancelled (hearing ran too long), but you get the idea. The Democrats spelled it out clearly: this was a show trial designed to villainize civil service & science, revise history, & erode our Constitutional rights. rasmussenretorts.substack.com/p/live-cover...
