one time i was in the elevator going to my own event, next to a woman holding a stack of my books. i was like "we're going to the same place 😏" and she said "i'm so not a fan, but signed copies get more on ebay" and i said "i'm so sorry for what's about to happen"

I go on book tour and very often I go to the venue where the event will be and there is a helpful person near the door asking if I am there for the event. I then have to tell them that I am, in fact, the event. So, no, I don't assume anyone knows who I am, even on tour. And that is perfectly fine.

Remembering Leo Fender 💖 (Aug 10, 1909-Mar 21, 1991) The guitars and amplifiers Leo Fender designed starting in the 1940s on are still widely used. Ironically, Fender never learned to play the instruments he designed and produced.

He also founded the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation. In January 1965, he sold Fender to CBS, and later founded two other musical instrument companies, Music Man and G&L Musical Instruments. The guitars, basses, and amplifiers he designed from the 1940s on are still widely used: the Fender Telecaster (1950) was the first mass-produced solid-body electric guitar; the Fender Stratocaster (1954) is among the most iconic electric guitars; the Fender Precision Bass (1951) set the standard for electric basses, and the Fender Bassman amplifier, popular in its own right, became the basis for later amplifiers (notably by Marshall and Mesa Boogie) that dominated rock and roll music. Leo Fender was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992. His instruments were played by many Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees such as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Fender never learned to play the instruments.

Earlier this week, the Alaskan cruise ship Wilderness Legacy rescued a small skiff stranded near Farragut Bay after running out of fuel. But, according to tracking data reviewed by the Alaska Beacon and Halifax Shipping News, the closest vessel was actually Mark Zuckerberg’s super yacht, Launchpad.
