Marina Park, Cork Ireland.

According to the An Coimisiún Pleanála inspector there's simple no justification for the turning circle due to the conflicts it would introduce. It there was justification for the turning circle no Material Contravention would be required. www.pleanala.ie/en-ie/case/5...

An Coimisiún Pleanála have refused the appeal by Páirc Uí Chaoimh. It appears to have been an easy decision for the board.

On the other side of Páirc Uí Chaoimh, Cork City Council is building an urban dual carragway that is planned to eventally take up even more urban green space from the park when it is linked with a bridge across the River Lee. Why not place the coach access beside the new road?

Access to the stadium is from the other side. The stadium mgmt are looking for access from this side. They need a material contravention to the development plan to change public open space to vehicular space. Cork City Cllrs get to vote on this in May. We need 8+ Cllrs to vote against the MC.

PUiC want to put in what they call a "turning circle" here. But we all know it'll be used for parking on. This was taken when the barriers were moved this week & motorists instantly take the piss. There's very few places where cars can't go & they want to allow cars onto this pedestrian area.

Motorists doing what motorists do - taking advantage as usual. Here they are parking on the normally car-free plaza at Pairc Ui Chaoimh. The barriers are pulled back. During a blitz this area parents dump their cars wherever they want & is not taken care of by Stewards to prevent parking. It will be similar if they are allowed to put in a "turning circle".

Cork City Council propose altering the city development plan to allow another vehicle access route over "public open space" and an existing public park at Marina Park. You can make your views known.
