Hi folks! My collaborators at UNC and I are recruiting for a new research study focused on improving an eating disorders prevention program for South Asian women living in the United States! Please see the flyer for more details and share widely with anyone who may qualify!

Research psychologist CHOP. I research small details that have big implications in eating disorders (i.e., measurement, classification, computational mechanisms). Views are my own.
We will be recruiting 1-2 research coordinators to join the Eating Disorders team at CHOP. Projects will include clinical trials and mechanistic studies to improve access to care and precision approaches to treating AN and ARFID in youth. Job ads are coming 🥳

Ugh so many things I want to give a thumbs down to, not because I disagree, but because I agree and am so disheartened by
New report from Bernie Sanders, ranking member on the HELP committee www.sanders.senate.gov/wp-content/u... Lots of substance in here. Some highlights... 1/n
Unless (of course) you say the words “racism”, “bias”, “inequities”, “underserved”, “equality”, or you know identify any sociodemographic variable in your study let alone are specifically interested in “groups” 🫠
Phew! “With principles of academic freedom in place, NIH scientists can be certain they are afforded the ability to engage in open, academic discourse as part of their official duties and in their personal capacities w/out risk of official interference, prof. disadvantage or workplace retaliation.”
For the last 3 yrs, I was the director for the Science of Science program at the NSF. We funded projects on science communication - science communication to the public, communication of public priorities to scientists, citizens engagement & participation in science. 🧵
“ By accepting the grant award, recipients… [certify that]… They do not, and will not during the term of this financial assistance award, operate any programs that advance or promote DEI, DEIA, or discriminatory equity ideology in violation of Federal anti-discrimination laws;” This is unbelievable
NIH just posted a Notice with the new Terms and Conditions... grants.nih.gov/grants/guide...
Historians of white supremacy passing the flame to historians of the Great Depression in the world's saddest Olympic torch relay.
I may be tired and a little hoarse, but as I said again and again on the Senate floor, this is a moment where we cannot afford to be silent, when we must speak up.
Oh yes, awful DEI grants just out here wasting money trying to prevent at-risk youth from suicide… 🫠
8/x And yet, my grant gets pulled b/c it no longer aligns with NIH priorities. Excuse me? Preventing suicide isn't a priority anymore? Bullshit. Given that these grant terminations aren't based in logic or scientific reasoning, what explanations are left for why these grants are getting terminated?
Just leaving this here…

NIH just posted this news announcement. "Today the National Institutes of Health is announcing plans to centralize peer review of all applications for grants, cooperative agreements and research and development contracts within the agency’s Center for Scientific Review (CSR)"
More than half of all academics report the current EOs are impacting their productivity & >90% report low confidence in the government. Most alarming we are at greatest risk of losing scholars with minoritized identities. Great (& fast) summary of concerns in higher ed by @lluaces.bsky.social et al.

As a researcher not from a program with other eating disorder folks, the “other” place was somewhere I made so many wonderful connections, collaborations, and friends. Definitely sad to see it go and hope I can have a great community here 🤓 #academicsky
