Miller or Platner, when did it stop being OK for politicians to say, "I dont know the truth of the matter, but domestic abusers shouldn't hold office". Just some boring middle of the road, "no comment about this exact person, but I have a moral compass" type response

Mike Johnson tells Politico that he's standing behind Republican Max Miller — despite the "serious" domestic abuse allegations against him.

The WNBA has never had a trans woman play in the league’s 30-year history and now the right and other anti-trans activists are hammering the league over something that has never been an issue, proving once again it isn’t about protection but exhibiting cruelty toward trans people.

Cheryl Reeve, winningest coach in WNBA history, defends transgender athletes against sports bans. “Exclusion is never the answer. Separate isn’t equal. Trans lives matter.” 💗🏳️‍⚧️💗🏀💗

Cool cool. Your WNBA season tickets also get you this mediocre League Pass app!!! Where AllStar content is only available outside the US & Canada (b/c surely there's a massive untapped viewership in countries where the WNBA does NOT play)

⚓ Rear Admiral Amy Bauernschmidt came up through the ranks the hard way, graduating from Annapolis, earning her wings, commanding a helo squadron, then a carrier, and now a carrier group. And because Low-T Peter just pulled her promotion, she'll never get her second star. Proud of you, Shipmate 🫡

Report: Hegseth torpedoed trailblazing San Diego admiral's promotion

Rear Adm. Amy Bauernschmidt was one of seven one-star admirals to have their promotions nixed — five of them women or people of color, the New York Times said.

I wish this so much for my neighborhood park in Phoenix - the fields & courts are packed once the sun goes down, but we need lights on longer!! Instead the lights go off & our city bans people and providing food & water to people in public parks.

Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani@mayor.nyc.gov · 3w ago

This summer, we kept the lights on all night, every night, at five soccer fields across New York City.

This was the scene at Calvert Vaux Park in Gravesend, Brooklyn Tuesday night.

Hanging out in Idaho. At a place just off "confederate lane" near the Plantation business center, and within eye sight of a few confederate flags. Idaho wasn't even a state during the Civil War, but the city & residents are out here commemorating losers.

I wish more journalists would point out that Sen. McConnell and Rep. Tom Kean (missed 4 months of work) are/were essentially on paid sick & medical leave. The same employment protection they’ve spent their careers blocking other Americans from having.

Trump approved disaster aid requests from six red states last week. Two days later, he rejected aid requests from four blue states. Not only is he punishing states who didn’t vote for him, he’s playing politics with people’s lives. Despicable.

My gosh. Yesterday, Egypt Coach Hossam Hassan asked FIFA to use its "soft power" to help Palestinians. Then today, just as the Egypt-Argentina match began, Israel killed Mohammed al-Wahidi of the Egyptian Relief Committee in Gaza — a group that also organized Gaza screenings of the FIFA matches.

Like so many other things, if Trump had just kept his mouth shut & let FIFA say "we revised and reversed the decision" it would have gone forward w/out nearly as much criticism. BUT he announced it & took credit for it - so whether true or not, of course Infantino & FIFA appear corrupt

"Cheyenne’s [Wyoming] Board of Public Utilities isn’t accepting industrial wastewater associated with data center systems until further notice after a contractor for Meta Platforms contaminated the city’s wastewater system." The discharged wastewater was contaminated with Cupriavidus gilardii.

I'll summarize this: Mamdani asked NYers to keep air conditioning at 78 degrees. A wave criticism hit online. A MSNBC broadcast pointed out the US Department of Energy recommends that 78 degree figure. Immediately after, the US Department of Energy deleted 6,000 web pages related to energy saving.

Trump’s Department of Education and Secretary Linda McMahon tried to politicize the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program by only allowing employers who agreed with the administration’s agenda to qualify. We sued, and today, we won on behalf of nonprofits, local governments, and labor unions.

I thought I was doing a small story on confusion over the sudden disappearance of water fountains on a popular South Mississippi biking and running trail. What I found was a bigger story about homelessness, the meaning people find in the things they love, public infrastructure and civic engagement.

Mississippi Free Press@mississippifreepress.org · last mo.

Water fountains disappeared from the Longleaf Trace in June as the board that governs it grew concerned about how homeless people were using its facilities. Runners and bikers who use the 44-mile trail fear the decision could have dire consequences in Mississippi's summer heat. buff.ly/pBXSvrI
