"What would you do if AI suddenly disappeared?" Nothing in my life would change for the worse. On the contrary, I'd make more money because readers wouldn't have to dig through Kindle AI slop to find my books. And I could build a high-end gaming PC again without paying out the ass for RAM and SSDs.

I tell lies for fun and profit. Author of the Frontlines and Palladium Wars SF series, Wild Cards writer, contributor to Love Death + Robots.
A good while back, one of my novels earned out its pretty hefty advance ON RELEASE DAY from preorders alone, and if they could somehow bottle that particular high and sell it in vials, I'm pretty sure it would make heroin look like decaf.
From the third season on, it gets downright eerily prescient with the AI and mass surveillance stuff.
It's interesting how it was once science fiction but now it's quite plausible. Facial recognition, tracking of habits etc.
We're currently binging Person of Interest (late to the party, I know), and it's a thoroughly enjoyable show that keeps getting better with each season. It has just the right balance of depth, humor, and action for evening entertainment after cranking out words all day.
The face of the future under MAGA is a smirking know-nothing millionaire who tells you that piss in your morning cereal is actually a good thing and you should be happy about it.
Hassett: "Data centers are very good for towns bc they create so many jobs & bring people in with high incomes that can buy houses & stuff like that. So if you take a sleepy town that hasn't seen much in the last 30 years & put a data center there, there are gonna be a bunch of happy residents."
This is who they are and who they've always been, even the ones that don't say it out loud. I've had discussions with his ilk of ignorant Bible thumpers over 20 years ago when I lived in TN, and I was told that the First Amendment doesn't apply to Islam because "it's a cult, not a real religion."
Oh look, Tennessee Republican candidate for governor Monty Fritts made it into people Magazine 😕 Republicans claim Dems are the radicals for wanting you to have health care, meanwhile this is who they’re running. (He’s a sitting state rep btw) people.com/tennessee-go...
there is no good faith anti-trans sports lobby and never has been it’s been a cynical wedge issue from day one for a group of people looking to replace gay marriage as a cultural weapon none of them have ever cared about women, women’s sports, or even sports
enough of this shit
Do I ever miss having a President who can--and does--read books.
It’s that time of year again: here are some of the books I’ve enjoyed this summer. If you’ve read any good ones, let me know!
Coming Summer 2027: Timothee Chalamet is J. Alfred Prufrock in Denis Villeneuve's LOVE/SONG
Studio execs are going to want to adapt more poems for the big screen now
"Would you like to buy some Itchy & Scratchy money? It works just like regular money, but it's...uh...fun!"
X Money is launching in the US starting today
At some point Apple figured out the magic formula to making smart sff television and has just been lapping everybody else ever since
Does any creature sigh more soulfully than a dog who has no job, no responsibilities, daily home-cooked meals, prompt healthcare, and several Cozy Caves scattered around the house in which he sleeps 22 hours a day?
The Zoomer faction of the Right, raised on the chans, is determined to discover if there's an LD50 for irony poisoning.
The kids are “Nixonmaxxing”: More than half-a-century after Watergate, conservative youth are discovering the aesthetic, and adopting the attitude, of the late president. 🔗 www.wsj.com/politics/ric...
I'm not saying Call of Duty is unrealistic, but I was in the military for years and never once got the option to unlock a custom skin for my rifle.
I think they're just mad they didn't get Zack Snyder's Odyssey instead.
"Any Shakespeare play or movie adaptation that doesn't have all its female characters played by men dressed as women desecrates the Bard just to meet the woke rules." (Also--I'd bet a fair amount that Elon has never read the Odyssey or the Iliad.)
Hollywood Reporter projects the box office opening weekend of The Odyssey at $257 million globally.
Imagine thinking that this deeply insecure and profoundly damaged clown is the epitome of masculinity.
those pants are insane wtf
The entire mission of the current Supreme Court is to make sure that only Republicans get to exercise meaningful political power. Expanding the court is the moderate proposal at this point.
Whatever else happens, I can take solace in the fact that I was around to see the rise and fall of Crystal Pepsi.
Every single institution that was supposed to protect us from what's happening right now has either been cowed into submission or bribed into compliance.
Axel Springer, the company that owns Politico, awards its top prize to...Antichrist lecturer Peter Thiel. No mention of the $50 million Thiel gave the son of Axel Springer's CEO to start a venture capital fund. But the CEO lauds Thiel's "courage and non-conformity." www.welt.de/wirtschaft/a...
LOL. The guy who told the GA Secretary of State to find him 11,780 votes is talking to the country about election fraud.
When trying to understand contemporary American politics or culture, it’s helpful to remember that everything is gender, but in the dumbest possible way. Diesel pickups? Penis. Electric cars? Vagina. Except Cybertrucks, because those own the Libs, which is penis, since the Libs are vagina.
Getting into dumbass avoidable wars to suck up to a draft dodger is penis. Listening to NatSec experts is vagina.
Hopeful for Robert Eggers' WERWULF. I'm a linguistics nerd and a sucker for a good lycanthrope yarn, so a werewolf flick in a medieval setting with the dialogue in Middle English sounds so very much up my alley.
I think there's overwhelming evidence at this point that having way too much money tends to turn people into sociopaths.
If you remember this kind of bicycle from your childhood and you haven't scheduled your first colonoscopy yet, it's high time.
And doing the bidding of a New York City trust fund baby with the softest hands of any man alive, who has been squatting on golden toilets all his life and wouldn't know how to start a chainsaw or use a self-checkout register at a grocery store if his life depended on it. Common folks just like you!
fantasy GOP: salt of the earth blue collar guys who really connect to regular non-coastal-elite folks actual GOP politicians in R+73 seats: Harvard law degree, has worn a suit and tie every day of his adult life, half-heartedly affects an accent that sounds like a drag queen doing Foghorn Leghorn
Government-run grocery stores selling subsidized food: SOCIALISM! Government-run gas stations selling subsidized gasoline: FREEDOM!
The White House launched 25 Freedom Fuel gas stations, all selling fuel at $3.47 a gallon.
Absolutely every policy position these people take can be predicted with 100% accuracy via @tamslick.bsky.social's classification binary: is the object or activity penis-coded (good) or vagina-coded (bad)? Cars are penis. Electric cars are vagina. Bike lanes are vagina because bikes are vagina.
Newest thing to fear: "DEI bike lanes."
