#Blender animation depicting Mars 4100-3700 million years ago. The period is characterised by high rates of meteorite impacts, volcanism and possibly abundant surface water — however, the water is thought to have been localized rather than spanning the planet in oceans, as on Earth.
Just finished Susanna Clarke's "Piranesi", an utterly delightful read. Wildly original, I was about 40% in before I got a feeling for what was actually going on. I found "Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell" superb, I'd say this is even better.
