”No one is encouraging Black women to have more babies” AND I remember a time when there was a concern globally that Black women were having too many babies. The North remembers.
An audience member asked me about leftist pronatalism.
lol if you replace all the entry-level workers with "AI agents," who is going to replace middle management? More AI agents?
Underrated how much “young people you don’t hire because you’re using AI” will soon evolve into the future problem “slightly older people you didn’t hire, but now need to curate the output of AI”
I love @tressiemcphd.bsky.social brain. “Doing the job of the state is a threat to the state. […] If the people turn to each other, and self organize, that is seen as a threat.“
A very easily overlooked aspect of the Panthers. Hoover said the Free Breakfast Program was the biggest internal threat to the US.

Spelman College is making history this commencement season with seven valedictorians, the most in the Atlanta institution's history. They have a wide range of majors and an even wider range of ambitions — and all of them achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA. https://bit.ly/4uRgIn9
TLDR: Work by Sara Bana and co-authors finds that a handful of AI hiring platforms can define the job market trajectory of thousands of candidates because they don't update resume scores. Let those platforms be biased, and guess who bears the brunt? Black and Asian people.

"Does your college need a Librarian for AI?" --> ...the most common response was an increased demand for AI literacy instruction (83 percent), followed closely by the integration of AI tools in discovery systems (74 percent). t.e2ma.net/click/lvcwwi...

What alternatives do we have to Samsung forcing us to use Google's awful Gemini product for texting aside from giving up texting?
Samsung is discontinuing its texting app, tells impacted users to switch to Google Messages
Samsung is saying goodbye its namesake texting app. According to an end of service announcement published on the tech giant’s U.S. support website, Samsung Messages will be discontinued in July.

I woke up this morning to see Samsung trying to force me to use a Google product. Again. Then I posted good morning on Bluesky, after being timed out a dozen times, followed by long period unable to get back on. It's still not working properly. Don't know what real issue is, so have no solution 🤷♀️

Heavy on the “it depends on Bluesky-the-corporation for none of its operation.” 🗣️🗣️🗣️
Is Bluesky dying? Is it the community's fault? Should people here refrain from criticizing journalists who think J. K. Rowling might have a point? The thing is, it doesn't matter. Because the answer isn't to make Bluesky change. It's to take advantage of Bluesky's tech to build something else.

Et tu, Sci-Hub?? 🧪
Sci-Hub, a pirate website that illegally hosts tens of millions of scientific papers, has launched an artificial intelligence–based chatbot that mines the database and answers questions based on what it retrieves. Read more: cen.acs.org/policy/publi... #chemsky 🧪
I was very fortunate to get it via library loan because it is quite pricey. Some of the individual articles are available for free online, via academia.edu . This book is highly specific to one small region in Ukraine but there are a wealth of articles about the era in general on that site

Academia.edu is the platform to share, find, and explore 50 Million research papers. Join us to accelerate your research needs & academic interests.
academia.edu
Sci-Hub is an evil website that pirated 85M+ research papers and made them freely available Now they've added AI to their database to make Sci-Bot. It answers your questions using latest, full-text articles. But DO NOT use it. We should all try to make billion-dollar academic publishers richer.
There really should be a support group for brutalist academic libraries. All of my libraries would be founding members.
