walk with me here but i think if home printers had stayed as common as they used to be and people still grew up with a temperamental, unreasonable, possessed and outright CURSED object in their house, society would remember to be incredibly skeptical of ALL technology and its inevitable betrayals
My answer is LOL ROFL (dickbrain) The terminally AI-pilled can't even *imagine* some people have *never* asked stochastic parrots to cheat at their job for them.
i am not an engineer, but i work with enough tech that i am very firmly with them on all of this. none of my stuff should ever talk to anything unless i directly tell it to, and it should not automatically try to do anything without my explicit permission.

Also, older Army and disabled Army! A lot of people at the shows I went to wouldn’t even look at me when they were passing out their freebies, but there were a decent percentage that asked me if I’d like one as I was hobbling around with my cane, and I am always delighted to get a freebie!
Also, I noticed a lot of men who were in queues looked away when freebies were shared as if they didn't expect them or want them. But they always said yes when I asked and most of them were super excited or curious. So don't forget Army men too! And of course all Army, treat everyone equally.
The Grammys are cooked if even Korean medias are coming in support of BTS 😭
"The thing is that BTS is not merely one of the biggest K-pop groups. It has become one of the defining musical acts of the 21st century, achieving a level of global influence comparable to the biggest international artists of any era."

It is just completely wild to me that I translated a POETRY COLLECTION from KOREAN TO ENGLISH and got it published by an American Big 5. This is unprecedented, a historic publication. When I pitched this book to Knopf, it was a total fantasy, and now... it's out. I can't believe we pulled it off.

Despite the industry's attempts to keep non-Western artistry tied up in neat little boxes, audiences are increasingly open-minded. Fans are less likely to stay trapped in their bubbles, and they're less focused on the automatic dominance of today's American stars. American is no longer the default.
The industry tried to wrestle back control by creating boxes; Asian pop categories, Afrobeats playlists, algorithms to separate if you're listening to music in Spanish or English, etc. There's an occasional token moment of mainstream exposure, but they mostly try to keep everyone in separate lanes.
Before BTS broke through in 2016-19 there was no space for non-Western artists in the US mainstream media. After BTS there was a sea-change, and the industry was scrambling to catch up. Suddenly more and more international artists were starting to break through, and the industry had to adapt.
When BTS first started breaking through it was unprecedented. The US industry had no model to compare them to – it didn't make sense – so they either tried as hard as possible to ignore them, or covered them like a novelty fad, a cutesy Asian boyband for teens that would be gone in a year.
Watching The Rise of Bangtan over the last decade or so really has shown a larger shift of global cultural power in real time. It's hard to explain for people finding BTS now at the height of their success how incredibly different the media landscape was back in the early 2010s.
I'm really glad this one decision by BTS is starting to open the conversation back up to inequality across the music industry, and questions about 'globalisation' of music in general (e.g. which direction is cultural exchange actually flowing, and who should have a voice in the conversation?)
If the Grammys want to stay relevant, they need to reinvent themselves as a much more globally focused institution. As Ricky Kej suggests, they need a whole new team of experts from around the world who can design a structure that's actually relevant for the future.
Rather than adding or subtracting a category here and there to "give exposure" to non-Western artists, the Grammys (and the whole industry) needs to be re-written from the ground up. People looking to the US as a hub for major awards is no longer a given.
The dude in the picture seriously believes we all need to use that shit to do things. Mu days would get a lot better if AI was banned, finding accurate sources for things wouldn't take as long without having to deal with slop on top of all the other crap.
Having fun isn’t hard when you’ve got a library card 📚

On the Boratrain! 🚅💜 Who else is going to Foxborough? And did you want to join a meetup GC on here where we can say where we are and see if we can meet up?
Don't know who needs to hear this, but Foxborough tix on StubHub are dirt cheap. If there were ever a crystal clear example of the law of supply and demand, this is it. D1 Foxborough vs D2 Chicago. Insane.
