This ⬇️ A rising block tariff approach has the potential to both support struggling households, deliver affordable warmth and it's associated health benefits, and incentivise energy efficiency investment all in one go. It's the sort of radical policy shift we need www.theguardian.com/business/202...

I submitted a planning application for a new housing scheme with car free streets between homes and separate parking courts. Highways told us it didn't meet their "design standards" and we were told it would be rejected. We now have a scheme with a road in front of every home... 😔

This ⬇️ “these findings show that the local streets in which we live are just as important a space for children, and we need to make sure they are safe and welcoming spaces, free from traffic and pollution”

Why would you take the plane when a train goes that fast? You arrive directly in the city center, and there's no hour long security check. Please @ec.europa.eu tax kerosene and use the money to lower the price of rail.

Going to Strasbourg for #GRETSI2025 but maybe pushing to Berlin?🤔 In the 90s there were trains called "eurocity" that would go across countries. Mine was the Heinrich Heine from Paris Est to Prague. I would take it in the evening and arrive in Leipzig Hbf the next morning. It was very convenient.

Scroll your phone and you’ll see a London of fear and decline. Walk its streets and you’ll find a city where difference is a strength and communities look out for one another. The reality will outlast the fiction.

Some politicians and political commentators try to talk down and denigrate our capital. I wrote for @bylinetimes.bsky.social on why the false image they peddle is not the London I know and millions love:

And here are some pictures to record the visit to Lily Close in Halifax with @katedeardenmp.bsky.social last week. The weather that afternoon was lovely which helped show off the new homes and their beautiful Pennine surroundings! @connecthousing.bsky.social #ukhousing

Enjoyed showing off @connecthousing.bsky.social new zero-carbon affordable homes in Halifax to @katedeardenmp.bsky.social this afternoon. Talked heat pumps, air tightness, MVHR, PV panels & accessibility, but also impressed with the build quality and spacious houses. Photos to follow... #ukhousing

Pete Apps' post ahead of the publication of the Grenfell report is well worth reading. Pete's journalism on this issue has been groundbreaking and exemplary. Few others understand the intertwined failures of state, regulation & commercial interests to the depth he does. (I must get Pete on here...)

The final report of the Grenfell Inquiry is published tomorrow - Peter Apps’ summary of what to expect is well worth reading: open.substack.com/pub/peteapps...
