Hoping Sean will join us in January to read at one of our Poets' Corner evenings at Mecycle café/bar/bike workshop in Southport, which is run by the charity Autism Initiatives. Our new season of monthly events starts in October, I'll announce the first ticket booking date in early September.

Interesting and thought provoking exhibition, 'Antiquita' by Syrian artist Zahed Taj-Eddin at the Atkinson, Southport, Merseyside. This piece is called 'Confrontation'. There are also 2 videos about his working methods, one a good illustration of creating bronze sculpture by the lost wax technique.

Food and art baked into a yummy package. 🫓 A stunning, traditional Uzbek bread known as Patir - a dense and celebratory flatbread. The bread is meticulously decorated by hand with detailed patterns stamped into the center and a sculpted, flower-like border. It is then baked in a tandoor oven.

In a National Trust property in North Wales I was told the staff called September visitors 'blackberry people ' - but we've been getting ripe blackberries since late July, way too early - and today I saw lots of these - elderberries ripening already. The birds are going to be hungry this winter.
