It's kind of like the tech industry, as a whole, has moved into a sort of umbrella enshittification phase, above the more granular enshittifications going on at the corporate and product level. Of course, what we see is what got funded. We don't know what failed to find funding.
We shouldn't discount the fact that at least part of the data center backlash (and by extension the broader techlash) is because people feel like the tech industry has not given them anything cool, inspiring, beautiful, or useful in a long time
