This didn’t happen. In fact, it was a violent gang from outside UCLA that came in and attacked the protestors. And none of the attackers were held to account.

And we must emphasize this—there were Jewish demonstrators involved in practically all of these encampments, bravely putting themselves at risk to oppose genocide. Everything anyone said or did against the encampments, they were endangering Jewish kids who chose to go without the backing of Israel.

Literally, the day after UCLA sent the police in to break up the encampment was when I decided I was leaving - not just the university, but the country. Obviously there were other factors, but I felt a profound sense of alienation. I can only imagine how crushing it must have been for the students.

I can’t say much on that UCLA thing but I remember there were people from a foreign military that went there just to beat up on kids exercising the duties they just learned were their inherent rights in civics class. There was a mother who sent her son there to do that. Staff was blackballed.
