Demonizing genuine progressives and anyone left of center is the media's default setting. They were never going to frame El-Sayed beating Haley Stevens as anything other than a "win" for Republicans and a disaster for Democrats.

A.R. Moxon@juliusgoat.bsky.social · 6h ago

The media's takeaway from an El-Sayed win is the same as it would have been from a Stevens win, and the same as it will be if El-Sayed wins the general, or if he loses it: everyone, no matter who they are, needs to take several steps to the right.

Joshua Bonehill-Paine has no business standing for public office. Anyone legitimising this crap is telling on themselves. Also, someone ought to tell Kemi Badenoch that no matter how welcoming she is towards racists, white supremacists, and neo-Nazis that they will always see her as a useful idiot.

Martin Calladine@uglygame.bsky.social · 7h ago

Farage often brings a certain cunning and deviousness to his political scheming. Kemi Badenoch is just straightforwardly as stupid as she is unprincipled. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

China can install 5GW of solar in 3 days when they're on a roll. How much power does #Sask need on the most power thirsty day? 6GW. That's right Saskies, With 1000 times less effort than China, Saskatchewan could be at 100% renewable power in just 3000 days. 8.2 years, or 2034. #skpoli

David Roberts@volts.wtf · 22h ago

Don't look now, but the world has now installed 3TW of solar. Took 10 years to get from 100GW to 1TW. Less than 3 years to get to 2TW. Less than 2 years to get to 3TW. Analysts expect *9TW* by 2036.

For the past five months the only refugees the USA has accepted are white South Africans fleeing equality & safety meanwhile they are disappearing or strapping ankle monitors on any Haitian they can get ahold of. It needs to be understood how thoroughly connected these two things are.

Haley Stevens is learning the hard way that being a bigoted corporate shill masquerading as a centrist Democrat in 2026 doesn't fly. Abdul El-Sayed is winning on a fraction of the budget. If form holds, the only suspense now is how high she cranks the Islamophobia dial in her concession speech.

Patrick Fenelon@patrickfenelon.bsky.social · 15h ago

If you think Democrats taking back the senate is out of reach because El-Sayed is winning the Michigan primary, I don't know what to tell you. There is no planet where someone as odd/off-putting as Stephens was the more electable of the two.

My relationship with gaming is nonexistent, but it absolutely sucks that talented game developers are about to watch their careers go up in flames solely so Jared Kushner, the Saudis, and Clearlake can bleed EA dry. Private equity is the root of all evil, and leveraged buyouts should be illegal.

Once upon a time, ESPN championed competent journalism and intelligent conversation about sports and the myriad ways it effects society. The enshittification of sports media was inevitable, but the pivot to Pat McAfee and ignorant loudmouths of that ilk will shrink their audience.

Nathan@ngtcollectibles.bsky.social · 19h ago

ESPN opted to gut their veteran reporter/commentator roster so that guys like Pat McAfee and Aaron Rodgers can yuck it up over medical conspiracy theories. It's been a long time since ESPN was great, but now they're just peddling trash that's ultimately in the service of anti-intellectual fascism.

It certainly doesn't help that most legacy media organizations and newspapers have been captured by billionaire thieves, abusers, bigots, and cowards. What used to be career-ending scandals barely get ink or airtime anymore-- and that's by design. The zone is being flooded on purpose. Fascism 101.

Soraya Nadia McDonald@soraya.press · 21h ago

it's not why *everything* sucks, but having all three branches of the federal government captured by thieves, abusers, bigots, and cowards is definitely why a lot of things suck

Is it true that Weiss and Ellison privately joke that "CBS" now stands for "Children Be Sexy"? It's impossible to say just yet. But given all the work they've done to shield all the pedophiles in the Trump administration from the Epstein Files story, we just can't rule it out.

mtsw@mtsw.bsky.social · 22h ago

Why are Bari Weiss and David Ellison manipulating the news to protect child rapist Jeffrey Epstein and his accomplices? Possibly connected to how Weiss pushed to hire Epstein friend Peter Attia?

The best thing Arsene Wenger could do is leave FIFA. Every day he remains lends credibility to a thoroughly corrupt criminal enterprise masquerading as a non-profit governing body. Distancing himself from Gianni Infantino now means nothing.

NBC News@nbcnews.com · yesterday

Two senior FIFA executives, coaching great Arsène Wenger and CEO-like secretary general Mattias Grafström, distance themselves from their boss Gianni Infantino’s failed plan to sell stakes in future World Cup profits to private investors.

Expanding into live sports risks giving utterly toxic people a megaphone. The fear that most people who fled Twitter once it became an abusive white supremacist hellhole have is whether or not Bluesky algorithms will shift to give insufferable racists, bigots, and "debate me" bros a louder voice.

Erin Biba@erinbiba.bsky.social · 2d ago

Folks I won’t tell you not to feel your feelings, but this is rage bait. He’s talking about expanding beyond politics into things like live sports.

Bluesky is a "liberal bubble" because fascist chuds can't get traction without algorithmic assistance and because people here trained themselves to block "debate me" trybois the instant they roll up

The Verge@theverge.com · 2d ago

Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."

Tom Dundon has an extensive history of embracing scorched earth tactics while alienating employees, fans, and anyone who disagrees with him. Like most billionaires, he's an unrepentant jackass. Adam Silver will never admit it, but allowing him to buy the Blazers ensured a showdown over relocation.
