Early in my career I was called on to figure out what the hell was wrong with a FORTRAN program which had worked just fine for years, but when a contractor updated some formulas, it stopped working.

what are some absurd work situations you can share? once i got called into a meeting i had nothing to do with because the consultant brought an engineer and no one in the room could understand him, so they asked me to translate. he was scouse. i translated from english to english.

Dear New York Times (and other news publications) : when discussing the speeds of ICBMs, orbital rockets, etc, the preferred units are kilometers per second, not miles per hour. If your general audience prefers mph, please put km/s in parenthesis so that I don't have to copy paste to convert.

Funny side effect of living in Los Angeles County: I find out about upcoming movie premieres via the Waze app. I have no idea *which* movie is having that big multi day premier, but I know exactly where it's going to block traffic. It must be a big movie, judging from which streets are closed.
