Grabenwerkstatt is Wachau like no other. Franz and Michael are making electric, laser-sharp Grüners and Rieslings in the harsh Spitzer Graben out of old vines. Hands-off, tense, speaking of their origin, utterly thrilling.

Grabenwerkstatt is Wachau like no other

I still pretty vividly remember my first experience with wines from Austria’s Wachau valley some 11 years ago. A couple of Smaragds from F.X. Pichler, one of the top names in the region, all coming fr...

8 sparklings, 4 countries. Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, and the UK. This likely was one of the first if not the first tasting of these wines in Poland. Thanks to SPOT. for hosting the event! I'm looking forward to exploring this topic with the Polish audience more. There's more to tell.

I'm thrilled to soon present two masterclasses on cool climate sparklings, exploring wines from Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, the UK and — of course! — the Polish ones. Quite likely for the first time in Poland. And quite likely not the last. The first bottles are here already, more to come!

We ordered a bottle of Champagne. The staff flocked to our table to witness - "noone ever buys it", they said. "I never opened one, can I do it?", another waiter seconded. Little stories like this can make a place memorable, even if for the strangest of reasons. It was a lovely evening.

Achieving the Weinakademiker title and the WSET Diploma encouraged me to make a personal website about my wine stuff and collate everything under a single brand for the future. I also finally have some space to post my English writings that never fit anywhere before. I invite you to mati/wine ☺️

A group of four Polish wineries (Turnau, Jassa, Julo and Vogard) has just announced submitting the paperwork toward establishing the first Polish PGI for wines of the Lower Oder Valley (Dolina Dolnej Odry). This has been on the grapevine for a while now, but apparently is now in the motion.

Once upon a time, a group of winemakers in Chile decided to create their own appellation of sorts. It changed Chilean wine forever. A look back at the pioneering work of VIGNO, and the current crop of world-class Carignans they are making: www.vinography.com/2... #winethreads
