Sorting some of my thoughts. Yes, the situation with SRDC (speedrun.com) is bad, your communities should consider moving in the long term, this has happened again now. However hastily jumping ships is also not the proper move. Take your time. Consult your communities. Keep your voice heard.

I wrote a blog post to go deeper into all this and to spread awareness. Please read it to dive deeper into what this all means. therun.gg/blog/leaderb... I spent like 10 hours reading through the terms to really understand it, but I'm not a lawyer. This is not legal advice

Leaderboards and speedrun.com’s new terms of service

speedrun.com replaced its terms of use on 1 October 2026 and dropped the Creative Commons licence. What changed, why it matters for runners and community tools, and what you can do.

Im quite frankly very devastated that VR is so expensive now. I really wanted to get into it, both development and playing actual vr games. However I am entirely outclassed really, which makes it pretty much impossible to even try this in the first place :(

Okay I'm crashing out, literally every Godot Meetup I've been participating in the last few months now has been hijacked by vibe coders and its been derailed to nothing but AI talk, I'm just fed up. Can we please just talk about game development please? I do not want to hear about AI tool #9032347.

I was curious what gamedev people on twitch do. I am baffled on how every single one I have watched so far resorts to an LLM and that consistently. The irony was that some of the issues they had were so easy to find in documentation in a minute. They spent like 10 minutes arguing with the LLM.

That's TIME on gamescom GDQ and we've raised €18,000 for Gaming for Democracy!!!! We're incredibly grateful to everyone who came out to see us at our very first gamescom!!! And thank you to our runners, staff, volunteers, Moonflow Media and speedruns.de for making this event possible 💙

Oh boy, there goes nothing. Wish me luck with this one. If I ever was hoping for a run to be accepted into an event, it would be this one. Fingers crossed. Would be also my first GDQ event and probably the only one I will be able to attend in the next years. One can just hope😔

The chances to go to an in person GDQ event suddenly have increased drastically. I will try to submit a run and get into the event. Would be a dream coming true, especially considering the current situation across the ocean making it kinda impossible for me to travel to a GDQ event otherwise.

For research purposes, I am looking for some game recommendations that are similar to classic 3D Zelda games (OOT,MM,TWW,TP,SS). What other games had a similar formula? I am aware of Darksiders, Okami and Dungeons of Hinterberg and a few Indie titles, but I would be happy to hear about more games.

People love to call 2014-2018 the "golden age of speedrunning" but honestly the community around speedrunning is so much better now. I do not miss the GDQ Cringe Compilations and anti-SJW grifters that took up so much of the conversation. Glad that stuff is mostly dead.

Building a complex player controller has been the most challenging software engineering task ever. There are so many things to take care of. It truly is mindboggling. I also should have planned it better. Means I (or someone else in our team) will have to rewrite it at one point.

Lol apparently my reddit account got pwned and I never noticed it. I also never got an email. Must have been a leak somewhere in the past. Oh well, lets see if I can get the username at least back.
