Genuinely astonishing to me that this stuff isn't common knowledge, 15 years into the smartphone era. The piece is ok, but the first para is scaremongering bollocks - to be clear, your phone is *not* eavesdropping on you to target you with ads (it doesn't need to)

Frankly astonishing piece by @alexisconran.com on all the data our phones keep on us and what they do with it (it's not good). open.substack.com/pub/scamproo...

Instead, play this adorable 8-bit demake of Lemmings - all the levels you remember! just as incredibly cute and frustrating! - in your browser. A screenshot of one of the game's levels - specifically the early one in which you just use blockers to stop the lemmings ambling off ledges to their doom

The volume of entirely-AI-generated inbound emails I am receiving has tipped into 'incredibly annoying' territory, so I am now using this boilerplate response which I encourage you to adapt for your own purposes

Nice bit of PR for Big AI from Amol Rajan on Today just now, on AI-assisted entrepreneurship and vibecoding sites and tools for small businesses: "Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT...and you can get them for free, those tools, they can build things for free." Dear Christ, save us from this shit. IT'S NOT TRUE
