On this day in 1858, the scientific world first heard the idea of evolution by natural selection from a joint presentation by Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace at a meeting of the Linnean Society in London. It is a case of integrity and collaboration (thread below 👇) #Evolution #EvoKE #OTD 🧪

I know it seems like a heretical idea, but one way to figure out if a preprint is really interesting (to you) is... to read the preprint. Then, in the spirit of sharing, send a note to authors: a simple kudos or a more detailed question. I do this a dozen times a year. It's awesome. Try it.

I’m used to saying ”male” or ”female” flowers, or calling anthers the male part and pistil the female part of a flower. But accurate scientific vocabulary is so important! I agree with the argument that plants are much more complex than the binary categories we borrow from human perspective

SSE Presidential Symposium – Navigating Uncertainty: Individual Resilience and Collective Action in Evolutionary Biology May 21, 9:15 AM - 12:30 PM This year’s SSE Presidential Symposium will consist of two linked sessions designed to address the current climate of uncertainty surrounding federal funding and its implications for evolutionary biology. Together, these sessions are designed to move from personal grounding to community-level strategy, offering both immediate support and longer-term vision.
