I did a government formation activity today with my section, which the students seemed to like. They ended up with a Conservative-Liberal-Populist coalition but despite being the plurality party of the parliament the Conservatives only got one of the four cabinet positions and didn't get the PM spot

Talked about Dahl and Lipset today and I had pretty good participation again! I didn't have any discussion sections before this academic year but I'm actually pleasantly surprised with my students, given all the (reasonable imo) doom and gloom about impact of tech and covid on education

These results from our SPSA project are super cool: using 40 million CVRs we show that (eg) Biden voters became *more* likely to cross-over and support a Republican House candidate as the D candidate became more extreme. They became *less* likely to do so as the R became more extreme

I'm not even upset about this but I think I managed to get a proposal for MPSA rejected, which is something I had been lead to believe was impossible. It's listed under the wrong section though (politics and history?) which makes me wonder if it was down to me making a mistake when submitting it.
