sorry. i promised myself i would never post when im angry. and i am really, really, really angry about this. i think im going to take some time to myself for a little bit.
personally, i'd give anything to go back in time and prevent what happened to me. it destroyed my trust in other people and institutions. it shattered my mental and physical health. it derailed my education. it changed how i see the world and myself. it made me give up on many of my dreams.
rape is not an oopsie daisy. it's not a youthful "mistake." it is a life-altering violation of someone's fundamental bodily autonomy. it inflicts intense suffering and psychological trauma. it is torturous to experience and it is often torturous to continue living afterward. it is a big deal.
i shouldn't be shocked by the amount of people i've liked, admired, and even trusted who've spent the last week trivializing rape via progressive sounding language, but i am.
that's uh...the same grim choice they made in israel and just look how well it's turned out for them!
