I'm on the fence about this take, but I will say as a vintage dealer who knows a lot about the past 100 years of clothing I am interacting more & more frequently with people who have never owned/touched a quality garment & have absolutely no idea what they're missing.

I've been the victim of a property crime twice; the first time the responding office did literally nothing beyond offering me the insurance form. The second time the responding officers made a big deal of "calling in forensics" and then hit on the female forensics officer when she arrived.
