A large-scale GWAS led by King’s IoPPN and collaborators has identified the largest number of genetic associations with #anxiety to date. The study linked genetic data to severity of symptoms rather than the yes/no category of a clinical diagnosis. ➡️ www.maudsleybrc.nihr.ac.uk/news/novel-g...

Our paper is out in Nature Human Behaviour today! www.nature.com/articles/s41... See this thread from the PGC account for a breakdown of our results. Huge thanks to all my wonderful co-authors, especially co-first author Brittany Mitchell and my supervisor/joint senior author @thaliaeley.bsky.social
📢 New publication in @nathumbehav.nature.com from the PGC Anxiety Working Group: the largest GWAS of generalised anxiety symptoms to date, analysing ~700k across 14 cohorts. We found 74 genome-wide significant loci, 39 novel for anxiety.
Out earlier this week in @natgenet.nature.com: GWAS of major anxiety disorders in 122,341 European-ancestry cases identifying 58 loci (www.nature.com/articles/s41...) Awesome work, and great news for the anx genetics community — each @pgcgenetics.bsky.social paper seeds 100s more papers!
Genome-wide association study of major anxiety disorders in 122,341 European-ancestry cases identifies 58 loci and highlights GABAergic signaling - Nature Genetics
Genome-wide association meta-analysis identifies 58 independent risk loci for major anxiety disorders among individuals of European ancestry and implicates GABAergic signaling as a potential mechanism...

💡🎓"How do domestic abuse and childhood maltreatment impact psychological therapy outcomes? Mixed methods research using longitudinal cohort datasets." Excited to be advertising this #MRC #PhD at King's College London, supervised by Dr @roxannekeynejad.bsky.social, Prof Thalia Eley, & me! Link below
Delighted to see the preprint up for our genome-wide meta-analysis of panic attack and panic disorder 🎉 This was a solid team effort!
Excited about our new preprint: 1st successful genome-wide study of >61,000 panic attack and 29,000 panic disorder cases. www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1... We find 17 associations & evidence that peripheral neurons in eye, lungs and heart are involved in panic & other psychiatric disorders 1/n
(2/2) In a preprint led by @megsk.bsky.social @thaliaeley.bsky.social in @gladstudy.bsky.social, GWASs of #functionalimpairment, anxiety, and depressive symptoms revealed high genetic correlations, suggesting symptom measures may detect most of the genetics of functional impairment. 🔍 osf.io/4d6ju
Check out our new paper on the second UKB mental health questionnaire! Was a pleasure to work on the coding team (incl. new additions of panic disorder & panic attack algorithms with @megsk.bsky.social). Thanks for leading @katrinadavis.bsky.social & coding lead @jonicoleman.bsky.social!
Very pleased to see our paper describing the @ukbiobank.bsky.social second online mental health questionnaire has now been published in @plosone.org! This describes the origin of the resource as well as the data. Fantastic work by Katrina Davis in leading this 👏👏👏 dx.plos.org/10.1371/jour...
Two weeks ago we had an amazing Social Science and Genetics conference in Oslo! Now that I had time to recover, I wanted to recall and reflect on some of the *ethical and social impacts* discussed during the conference. 🧵 /13
