Noctalia was doing this weird thing where Steam was showing up with a generic unknown application image in the taskbar/dock when running. It did not have the right click Steam context menus, but had "steamwebhelper" pop up. Renaming "steam.desktop" to "steamwebhelper.desktop" fixed the problem.
