For a country/economy as large as China this either means a larger share of the global pie (including tourists occupying hotels everywhere) or HUGE investments in other countries, which it will defend. In either scenario: less purchasing power for others, especially rich countries.

There are of course costs to a yuan revaluation - which Nageswaran and Srinivas acknowledge. But there are upsides for China too. They note, like I did, that in a world where China imports mainly commodities it’d bring a positive income shock as well. 5/

Don't have any illusions. They don't even look at what universities do or are. They are in it for the money. That's it. Profitable private condos along the Cam instead of historical university buildings and nice parks in Cambridge? Let's go for it.

1/5 Unemployment in Portugal, Spain, Italy and Greece is down. In Finland, Sweden and Denmark, it is up. At this moment, Italy has the lowest unemployment rate of these countries. This is surprising as, during and after the Great Financial Crisis of 2009, the Nordics were examples. What happened?

China´s population might soon decline with 10 million people a year. The Total Fertility Rate of India is below replacement level. The birth rate in Nigeria (233 million people) declined with 20% in 10 years. The unique 20th century, when the global population roughly quadrupled, seems to be over.

I opened a Revolut bank account. Bad - it opened with an advertisement for Google Wallet. I do not want a Google wallet. Not. - Next, I have to have a VISA debet card. I do not want a VISA debet card. It´s bad enough that the bank I´m lending money to, the ING, uses VISA debet cards.
