It's starting to get dangerous when your seeing opinions like "disruption to rp is bad actually" getting mod banned over an NA event. It always sucks to have an opinion that goes against the popular but heavens forfend you want to see some quality still in your hobby.
Faction identity in warcraft is so big that its the first choice a player ever makes, it locks your story nd leveling orogression, it sets the themes and playable races, and people are somehow still dismissive of it nowadays.
Warhammer Fantasy High Elves were SWEEPING even the Chaos Gods at their peak w/ the Lizardmen bros, they only stopped because of Malekith and Morathi but then decided to teach The Empire to harness the Winds of Magic and they're lowkey on the rise again after the Sundering.

I guess for me the appeal of having OCs in something like WoW is they inhabit a "real" world with rules, amongst thousands of others in the same boat. If that's gone and I just freestyle completely they can just live in a txt file and not a video game
I guess its just bleak to me if the attitude is "yeah there will be nothing to look forward to again, the story you are paying for is doomed, so its up to you to write it for yourself with your OCs"
Yes I can make up my own lore and ignore everything blizzard does, but the world won't do that, the players won't do that. I'd be better off just writing my own completely original fiction if this is the play.
I dont think a game you pay monthly for to be told a story should require you to ignore it all and make up your own version tbh, why is it on ME to do all the work. Rp is great and all but without an official sandbox to engage I just dont rly get it
