You either weren’t alive in the 90s-00s or weren’t interacting with normal people in a way that tipped them off to your interest in anime if you sincerely think there was never any negative sentiment toward it in the US at the time. The image of all anime as degenerate pornography was very pervasive

Just finished my re watch of red garden and first time watch of red garden dead girls! It's really really good. It's just 22 episodes of realistic reactions and slow but steady character development. Its the most complete package of a show I've watched in a while. Dead girls is such a fun extra

I think you can enjoy games without playing them, you can even be a fan of them but it's not the same experience as playing it. I like Persona 4 a lot, but I have nothing to say about the gameplay because I only watched a let's play. Unsurprisingly the gameplay is part of the experience of a game.

I am absolutely on the side of the Luddites. Tech shouldn't be at the expense of humans.

The Luddites' actual argument was that automated looms meant expensive, skilled workers were being replaced with literal children, who were then getting maimed and killed, and maybe this is bad.

Jaadugar is a beautiful show that's a little conflicting. I personally find it hard to negotiate the idea that these are happy slaves. But considering the end to ep to maybe that's just the story, they tell the child slaves to make them feel better

As a fan of the manga, this thread is far too mean. The manga came out in 1995. I'm glad we're getting an adaptation at all. I'm excited to see how far they get with the story.
