The DragonCon Filk track is re-printing songs that have previously been submitted and appeared in their yearly songbooks to make an “Anniversary Edition.” I know cons like GaFilk have done this as well (without contacting anyone), and DConFilk is emailing EVERYONE they have records for.
Filk News@filknews.bsky.social · 7d agoDragonCon is doing a 40th anniversary songbook, and instead of asking people for permission to use their songs, they're including them unless you refuse permission (e.g., if their email gets lost in transit). This is a highly dubious practice.

Making salt dough (with coffee grounds) “meteorites” for the preschool age kids I watch. I put little silicone animals inside. Last time I did this it kept them busy for over 90 minutes. When it gets too quiet they ask me what dying feels like and that’s over my pay grade
