🧠New RFBerlin Research Insight! Why do some refugees struggle to find work? Often, the barrier isn't language or skills, it's trauma. @mettefoged.bsky.social, Karen-Inge Karstoft & Edith Zink show that PTSD leaves a lasting mark on employment. Read more: www.rfberlin.com/research-ins...

Sudden displacement crises temporarily overwhelm steady-state accommodation systems. In a new paper, we document that pop-up shelters and private hosting scaled fast and housed the vast majority of arrivals during the peak of the Ukrainian displacement crisis (1/2)

🆕 RFBerlin Discussion Paper! Mette Foged, Jens Hainmueller, @mstahlschmidt.bsky.social & Edith Zink show how initial accommodation conditions shape refugee integration, using quasi-experimental evidence from Ukrainians in Denmark. 🔗 www.rfberlin.com/wp-content/u...

Does rhetorical othering affect the identity of the targeted minority? @teresafmonteiro.bsky.social, @hasagerlinea.bsky.social and I study exactly this in the context of Denmark's so-called Ghetto List. Using an RD design, we find that the Ghetto label triggered a cultural backlash

JMP from @annahasselqvist.bsky.social analyzing an interesting interaction between education policy and traditional gender norms

Anna Hasselqvist@annahasselqvist.bsky.social · 2y ago

#econsky #econjmp #econ #jmp I am on the #econjobmarket this year! My JMP focuses specifically on second-generation migrant girls. How does education policy impact them as they grow up in a highly egalitarian society, yet within families that have migrated from more gender-traditional origins? 🧵👇
