APPLEBAUM: Where we're now is hard to parse because Trump says contradictory things. Seems he’s frustrated with Putin, that he mistakenly believed he's so charming he'd persuade Putin to end the war. Trump is warmer about Zelensky, but not warm enough to actually do much that makes a difference.
