Every rental car these days seems to have some horrible feature called "lane assist" that drags the steering wheel around against your will when, eg, you're driving down a winding rural road. (If I'm ever renting a car it's probably because im going somewhere rural)

The Edmonton Heritage Festival has long been major source of canned/packaged food donations to the Edmonton Food Bank. But I was speaking with Food Bank bosses last night, and this year they are asking people NOT to bring food items to Hawrelak Park. Cash donations still gratefully accepted. Why?..

Even in Canada, I fear that the key lessons politicians have “learned” from the pandemic is that it is less political trouble for them to let people die than it is to do what’s necessary to keep them alive.

There was a time when i wasn’t sure what the stakes were in the contest between the zoonotic virus vs lab leak arguments, since it didn’t seem like it made a difference with respect to policy issues like vaccination, school closures, etc. I get it now.
