Too many people in this space ultimately only care about their ability to play games. Their entire ideology is based on the premise that games are some right accorded to them. When that's your most core belief, nothing serious can be built on top of it.

I’ve seen peers completely ignore BDS while championing the “power of the PlayStation Boycott” in the same breath recently. Frankly, I’ve just so little respect for these people. Why is it a race to be the most unserious person imaginable lately?

i think games writing would be in a healthier place if we could admit the indie coverage is really dire rather than going "yeah, man, we wrote about MINA THE HOLLOWER and MIXTAPE and [other thing with thousands of Steam reviews]"
