Another super week at Gatsby Plant Science Summer School tutoring the Plant Pathology Practical. Really lovely group of students this year, a pleasure to teach. Now it’s 11 years since I was a student at it! It was very surreal doing a talk on my career, from Gatsby to… Gatsby @gpsep.bsky.social
This week marks #PlantHealthWeek, a scheme committed to protecting the health of plants 🌿🩺 Today we are exploring the important and varied roles that fungi play in plant health. Let's take a look 🍄🔍👇
The #PlantHealthWeek activities continued at Fera Science with a Plant Health Walk around campus, with Bacteriology, Mycology, Entomology, Virology and Nematology specialists showing us what interesting plant diseases and pests we can find just outside 🌱🍂
#PlantHealthWeek: Boost collection biosecurity!🛡️🌱 Promote best practices and keep staff & visitors informed with FREE training, info & signage resources from @green-goddess.bsky.social at the TreeHealthCenter & IPSN Raise biosecurity awareness & protect plants! 👉 www.bgci.org/ipsn-publica...
A great (and busy) day of #PlantHealthWeek getting colleagues at Fera Science Ltd. to make fungi and spores on our stall to show them the wonders of Mycology. They made some superb models! 🍄👩🎨
DYK our Plant Health Professional Register is for people working in a wide range of plant health & biosecurity roles? By joining you’d receive independent certification of your plant health competencies, professional standing & achievements. More 👉 www.rsb.org.uk/careers-and-... #PlantHealthWeek
At the Fungal Biodiversity course at Westerdijk Institute @westerdijkinst.bsky.social last week I made my best preps yet of my favourite #fungus, Pestalotiopsis (this is P. palmarum)
Really enjoyed the Fungal Biodiversity training course at @westerdijkinst.bsky.social last week, greatly broadening my understanding of fungal taxonomy and characteristics to help with my diagnostic work
🎓Celebrating Our Fungal Biodiversity Course Graduates! Last week, a group of dedicated students immersed themselves in the world of #fungi during our course! A huge congratulations to all participants for completing this deep dive into the Fungal Kingdom!🎉
“Human progress isn’t measured by industry. It’s measured by the value you place on a life. An unimportant life. A life without privilege. The boy who died on the river, that boy’s value is your value. That’s what defines an age. That’s what defines a species” - The Twelfth Doctor
A blue butterfly for a blue day. To my family in the states, sending love and strength. 💌 #bluemonday. #butterflies
Really enjoyed Skeleton Crew. Fun, contained and modest storyline, genuinely good child actors, likeable and importantly relatable characters, a breath of fresh air. Also Neel. Mostly Neel 💙
Andor Skeleton Crew 🫱🏼🫲🏽 Perfect first season
Enjoying Skeleton Crew so far, though I think it’s important to watch it with subtitles, as otherwise you’d miss gold like “thrilling music continues playing” and “speaking in alien language”
Happy Birthday 61st Doctor Who! 🎂🍰 ✨💙 Spending the day sheltering from the rain listening to loads of Big Finish Audio adventures. And also Vincent and the Doctor which is ever more incredible after visiting the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam.
Today go out and sniff a flower 🥰. There is beauty in this world, never forget that
