So many republican influencers are now saying “we don’t live in a democracy” and insisting that “republic” and “democracy” are mutually exclusive. Seemingly rejecting democracy because democracy = democrats and republic = republicans
Can you imagine listening the music while the volume is on a prime number? Wild.
Farage has really fucked himself with this by-election. As he is now a parliamentarycandidate, he cannot do his usual quasi-punditry on the telly because the broadcasters needs to give equal time to every other candidate. So instead, just no one is getting any TV time.
Minor spoilers for the Odyssey. One thing I enjoyed about the film is the line it walked between fantasy and realism. Unless I have misremembered, I think nothing magical happens except when Odysseus is the POV character.

Not to be Captain Skeptic about this. But a 99 Flake isn’t called a 99 because it was meant to be 99p. (Despite the howls of Reform voters incensed by the price of Freddos and ice cream.) 🍦 Leaving aside that they were introduced before decimalisation, in the 70s they were 10-15p.
So maybe this is going to sound daft. But I think they were playing Murray Gold’s Cyberman Theme outside the palace when Starmer was resigning?
That BBC self-ad at half time of the World Cup Final was OK, but Mitch Benn did it better years ago with ‘I’m Proud of the BBC’ (YouTube link).
And this is why substack is to be avoided. It's not exactly covering itself in glory or doing anything to counteract the allegations of far-right support. @mrjamesob.bsky.social www.theguardian.com/media/2026/f...

And as a commenter welcomes, guess who just welcomed Andrew Tate onboard? Yep, Substack.
Off to see Mitch Benn in Manchester on Saturday! Forgot I had tickets for this. Hurray!
Just rewatched the Walliams/Gatiss sketches from Doctor Who night in 1999. They’re really mean spirited and unpleasant 😔

“Very successful aristocratic family.” Read: multiple business failures, ruined one of the most picturesque racing tracks in the UK with half-baked scheme, and forced to sell the ancestral home which had been in the family since the 17th century.
Corbyn and Fox doing their bit to split the “paranoid nutter” vote in Clacton.
The thought of the sheer spluttering impotent rage Farage must be reduced to right now, combined with the fact that even he, in some dank corner of his mind, must realise that he has entirely brought this on himself, makes me incredibly happy.
Even Barbra Streisand thinks Farage has really fucked this.
I must admit I hadn’t thought I would find myself here. However: Vote Binface. #MakeYourVoteCount
Awww it’s a shame they didn’t fix Colin’s blink in the new VFX version of Androzani.
Lib Dem’s smashing out the Doctor Who references on TikTok today.
So Pulp’s “Common People” is really about The Honourable Aubrey Waites, right? Started his career as Chris Waites and the Carrollers?

The transphobic hate on TalkTV is dangerous, misinformed, and completely breaches the broadcasting code. But Ofcom has done nothing. So we’re taking Ofcom to court to force them to do their job. Back the legal challenge here: https://goodlaw.social/0r9k
