Yikes. 45 degrees of pitch at FL430? That’s a scary thought.

Our community is grieving this weekend with the sudden loss of @lostaviatorcoffee.bsky.social’s Steve Zago. Steve was a community leader, passionate aviator, a friend to all, and a generous soul. He was also one of my first podcast episodes. I will miss him dearly. Blue skies my friend. 🩵💙✈️

Productivity as an adult is just an endless process of applying new psychological tricks and operant conditioning to yourself until an acceptable number of tasks are completed.
I had the privilege of finishing my training & checking out on the Consolidated PBY Canso yesterday. One of WWII’s great flying boats, this one was built in Montreal in 1944 and has an extensive history of military and waterbomber service. Looking forward to flying passenger rides in summer 2027!
Just now: On final for runway 28L at SFO parallel with another airplane. Runway clears. Autopilot off. Locked in and grease it. Steady braking and reverse for the roll out. Man, I love this life. I’m so so lucky to do it.
De-iced for some frost on the spoilers this morning in Saskatoon 🥲
Took my first Harvard passengers flying today. Two rides to consolidate the training. Felt good to lock in the confidence! Only told him he was my first Harvard passenger after the ride 😉
ATC gave us these vectors yesterday for delays going into Boston and said “Weeeeeeeee”
Heard a C172 report an engine failure near New Jersey while monitoring 121.5 tonight. He was trying to make a field but not sure if he made it. First time hearing a real emergency on guard.
A flat-earther challenged me about the earth being round today (in person!) Most of my answers were “because of gravity” but it’s hard to gain any ground with someone who doesn’t believe you can prove gravity is real…
I miss when Instagram was mostly people posting pictures of their cats or sunsets. Stop trying to sell me so much shit.
Harvard recurrent complete ✅ This airplane is demanding lemme tell ya.
Every complex airplane I’ve ever flown I’ve always found drawing out the procedures, especially the circuit, help organize my thoughts. Crosswind circuits in the Harvard on deck for Friday morning.
Katie talks a bit about the Chipmunk trip to Oshkosh in this episode. But also she give some solid general life advice that EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU needs to hear. Go on! Give it a listen!

Jfc. The final brain cell has left the building 🤦♂️
RFK Jr: "We are also looking at chemtrails"
Got back into the North American Harvard today. A full recurrent with advanced stalls and circuits. That airplane demands respect and attention. What a workout 😮💨
Little pet peeve of mine. Professional pilots in uniform with backpacks. Just looks bad to me. Roll your bag, sir. 🤷♂️

Can confirm that there were a lot of birds migrating today. And they love flying perfectly at circuit altitude
Radars across the eastern half of the U.S. States exploded with reflectivity ~22 hrs ago. Most is the result of birds with current estimates now over half a BILLION actively in flight. This is part of the annual fall migration southward and appears to be the busiest night of the season underway.
A sneak peak for the Mike In The Front Podcast Season 2! Had a great chat with Snowbird 1, Major Maciej “Match” Hatta this week. Get down to the waterfront this weekend! This is your last chance to see the Snowbirds flying the Tutor in Toronto! Show runs 1200-15:30 approximately. Smoke now!
Somehow today I pulled off a red eye that arrived 5 hours later than scheduled, went home, got my podcast gear, and recorded maybe the most interesting interview I’ve done yet. And now I sleep 😴
A great weekend of warbirds at Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum’s Warbird Fly-In where we celebrated 80 years of the DeHavilland Canada DHC-1 Chipmunk. Was happy to be among so many great aviators and Chipmunk pilots including @astrokatie.com and @peacewind.aero
