The effective federal corporate income tax rate: 1950: 50% 1990: 25% 2020: 13% Stop asking "but how we will pay for it?" Restore the corporate tax rate. That is how we will pay for it.

The 6 largest oil companies will collectively rake in $45B in profits in the second quarter of 2026 — nearly double what they made in the first quarter. Meanwhile, Canada, France, and Spain are battling record-breaking wildfires spurred by the climate crisis. Big Oil profits while the world burns.

Uber Eats and DoorDash hid tip buttons and set default tips below 10%. As a result, tips for delivery workers fell 79%.  In January, we made these corporations change their apps — and in the past six months, we've put $104 million back in delivery workers' pockets.  This is only the beginning.

For information: "Once the oil is drilled from the North Sea, it is owned by the private businesses and multinational energy corporations (like BP, Shell, and private-equity-backed firms) that extract it." Drilling more oil doesn't make us more energy secure.

We join here today in pluralistic opposition to data centers! Like sardines, most people don't like them. @milaatmos.bsky.social argues data centers should pay for their own stuff, and @manoushz gives us a glimpse of the future. Listen for maximal earball enjoyment!

SEN. @ossoff.senate.gov: “Here’s what’s gonna happen tonight — the world’s most famous sore loser will deliver a primetime presidential sour grapes 🍇 address to pursue his 6yo grievances about the 2020 election while his war spirals out of control and the cost of living continues to rise.”

Tonight the Senate is voting to start debate on the annual defense bill. It's essentially an Iran War authorization bill. A totally unprecedented 50% increase in spending to fund the war without any meaningful restraints. I'm voting NO.

OCCUPY! An Unfinished Uprising

15 years ago, a small group of skeptical New Yorkers answered a call to Occupy Wall Street. They camped out in tiny park in downtown Manhattan for almost two months. And they changed how we talk about capitalism. OCCUPY! An Unfinished Uprising is out now 📢

I was back in Immigration Court this week, this time for the hearing of a sweet little three-year-old girl, I’ll call her Estrella. She’s been in federal custody, separated from her family for more than 10 months – even though her mom lives here in NYC. The cruelty is truly mind-boggling. 🧵

ICE is engaged in a very large escalation nationwide, with the agency claiming to be hitting record arrest numbers amid the return of quotas. This has gotten very little attention from the media because ICE learned lessons from the chaotic disasters of Kristi Noem’s tenure. Keep a watch.

ICE is surging in the Seattle area. (Map shows activity in the last week) Do you have your whistle with you?
