So Badenoch would recruit a neo-Nazi but *not* someone who didn’t want to leave the ECHR or someone who supported our NetZero commitments. Second chances for this guy but not Dominic Grieve. The Tory party is truly wretched. It’s screwed the country, betrayed its own and lost its tiny mind.

Badenoch defends former neo-Nazi pick as council candidate
By Will Meakin-Durrant
Kemi Badenoch has said her party
"believes in second chances".
, after
the Conservatives selected a former neo-Nazi once jailed for harassing a Jewish former MP as a local election candidate.
Joshua Bonehill-Paine
posted on social media that he was "tremendously proud" that he has been chosen to stand for election to Somerset Coun-cil, in the Crewkerne South ward.
Bonehill-Paine (inset) was jailed in 2016 after he was convicted of racially aggravated harassment.
He wrote several blog posts about the former Labour MP for Liverpool Wavertree, Baroness Luciana Berger, labelling her "an evil money-grabber" with a "deep-rooted hatred of men".

He was previously jailed for producing an ad illustrated with a picture of the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz, which promised "an absolute gas" at a rally in Golders Green, north London.
Badenoch said: "I want to be very clear - and I think people can look at me and know that I'm not a person who would be recruiting neo-Nazis.
"Josh is someone who actually has been certified by the Home Office to train police officers on antisemitism and on countering extremism.
"Yes, he [has] previously convicted but he has shown contrition for his crimes, has been rehabilitated and is spending every day working to solve the very problem which he knew that he had caused previously.
"And the Conservative Party believes in second chances."

I've said this before but it's worth saying again. The #ECHR was created to stop Europe from sliding back into fascism. If a political party tells you that they can't do what they want within the ECHR then stop and think about what it is they actually want to do.

It would be absolute madness to approve ANY more oil or gas drilling in the North Sea. Labour came to power promising no more (but pragmatically to allow existing licenses to run their course), instead promising more green energy. That must still be the promise today. 1/2

Burnham risks first revolt as PM over apparent support for North Sea drilling

Labour MPs fear No 10 team lack up-to-date energy insight and don’t fully recognise voters’ climate concerns

As Measles cases hit a 35 year high, as a senseless war rages on with no exit plan, as gas climbs to record highs, and the Epstein files remain secret, the U.S. Senate is holding a hearing today to yell at Dr. Fauci and again push horse dewormer on the American public.

58 days of relentless resistance. 🦩 Albanians are standing up against land grabs, corruption, and authoritarian overreach to defend their public lands and democratic rights. When the people unite, real change happens. Keep raising your voices, Albania! 🇦🇱

2019 - Boris Johnson announced his 'ready made plan for social care'. 2019 - No tax rises in Tory manifesto. 2021 - Johnson to increase NI by 1.25% to fund social care 2022 - Truss cancels NI increase 2024 - Tories leave social care problem to Labour to sort out 2026 - Tories whine over cost.

Yes & herein lies the problem. When Labour was dragged to the hard left by Corbyn, centre-left Labour MPs fought for their traditions and their principles. When the same thing happens in the Tory party, centre-right Conservative MPs go gently into that good night.

The Tory MPs left who are properly centre right at heart are resolutely keeping their mouths shut, having learnt from the Johnson purge in 2019 that they’ll just be replaced by people who will do as they’re told, regardless of the damage to the Party.

Nothing would surprise me any longer. A week ago we had a serious politician, a Statesman, as Prime Minister. Now we have a lightweight, egotistical Mayor, who would be out of his depth in a puddle. For the life of me I will never understand the stupidity of Labour MPs.

Trump failed to get Congress to do his election rigging, so now he's trying to withhold public safety funding to instead force states to do it for him. California will not allow this to happen. We're leading a multistate lawsuit to stop this illegal behavior.

I made a commitment to provide free, independent legal advice for victims and survivors of sexual violence. The service has already provided hundreds of vulnerable victims with vital legal support - and now the government will roll the model out nationally.

🫣Oh do stop with Andy this and Andy that! We've had the most caring and empathetic PM for 2 yrs until he was shamefully ousted by backstabbing plotters. The 'bring back hope'slogan is so pathetically superficial and shallow compared to the real hope and obvious change that SKS represented & delivered.

I chatted to Radio 4 about the role of empathy in politics. I’m so proud to have heard Andy Burnham stand on Downing Street this week and say boldly that he will put the care of people at the heart of everything he does. Let’s bring back hope.
