it's incredible that yoko ono's 'fly' and CAN's 'tago mago' were recorded and released around the same time in 1971. here we have two acts, who are separated across continents but stylistically similar in their inclination for rhythm and committed experimentation of sonic textures in rock.
just said this on another post but it bears repeating: the thing about continuing to give money to any jk rowling properties or the nyt is not that they’re shitty about trans people, which they are. it is that both of these entities MATERIALLY CONTRIBUTE to the legal challenges to trans rights
the nyt and the atlantic are cited all over the heritage foundation bills. rowling is nearly single-handedly funding gc legal challenges in the uk. this isn’t “i got my feelings hurt” it’s “it’s legal to discriminate against me in very important ways”
welp it's just me myself and I tonight; at least I can watch other movies then
tonight I'll be watching eraserhead with my fren, since he's never seen a lynch film. hopefully it would go okay. he's not a cinephile so I'm curious how he'd take it all in. meanwhile this will be my fourth watch; it's one of my faves from lynch and my fave film of all time.
want to address this one because it’s a common misconception. this whole thing is entirely astroturfed transphobia, and if “good faith” people bought it they never looked into the science (there is no physical advantage for trans girls over cis girls) or the fact that this was a settled matter
@chrisvls.bsky.social · 6d agodunno. there's a difference between public performative political discourse and personal views... yes, the campaigners are all bad faith, but I certainly know cis parents with gay kids who do in fact see tough issues in girls sports but give no quarter on passports, ids, jobs, bathrooms, violence...
