This is it. I was so on board with almost everything he did. I almost fainted when I saw the trade for Corbin Burnes. I thought that was going to be the turning point—“liftoff” if you will. I very much believed in Elias. And he shat all over that belief several times.

folks... baseball doesn't go linearly. that's why when you're within 2.5 games of a playoff spot, with a fighting chance among other flawed teams, you give away multiple talented players so that next season you hope you're within 2.5 games of a playoff spot so you can repeat the same process

Mike Elias built a core of incredibly valuable young hitters and then pretty much refused to take the pitching side of things seriously for multiple years. He wasted one of the most enviable cores of the past decade. Incredible work!
