a worrying trend I keep hearing from ppl who want to sound smart when they talk about old games and it happens with fighting games way too often is ppl saying "nobody knew how to make games yet" as if there were no traceable dna of every solid mechanic and design they believe to have value

Also seems to mostly be Sonic fans saying this.
I'm sounding like a broken record here, but after going back for the first time since moving to KY I just found myself missing it more than ever. What I would give to go back
