Theater people weigh in: I find the onstage manifestation of Paddington creepy and uncanny and I absolutely do not want to watch a live show built around it! You?
Some personal news: I read "Cat Person" by Kristen Roupenian yesterday, so I'm ready to join the discourse from 9 years ago! My hot take is: I thought it was a very good short story, and I'm not sure what the discourse was about?
It really is amazing that Trump keeps pushing to throw some random guy who didn't seem to commit any crime into prison for a decade and this isn't being treated like a huge scandal.
Trump: “US Attorney Pirro should re-visit her hastily made decision, especially since it turned out that the ‘gentleman’ involved is a big player in ActBlue, a disgraceful fundraising SCAM, and is represented by a TRUMP DERANGED SLEAZEBAG, Political Hack Lawyer, Norm Eisen”
media when maga wins an election: we must travel the country and speak to these voters and extend empathy to them and give credence to their bigotry and false beliefs media when the left wins an election: is this the end of the american experiment
Blow, winds, and crack your cheeks—I had a ticket to "Salesman" in its final week, and "severe thunderstorms" couldn't keep me away.
In 1993, Trump signed a mortgage for a Florida home, pledging it would be his principal residence. Seven weeks later, he attested a neighboring property would also be his principal residence. In reality, he does not seem to have lived in either home. (Published Dec. 2025)
Trump’s Own Mortgages Match His Description of Mortgage Fraud, Records Reveal
The Trump administration has argued that Fed board member Lisa Cook may have committed mortgage fraud by declaring more than one primary residence on her loans. We found Trump once did the very thing ...

I honestly don't know how responsible CC is for the way the political right has turned her into their pet cause, but if she's at all embarrassed by the position they've put her in, she's gotta stop flopping like this every time she gets embarrassed on the court.
I love how Clark gets pushed, looks up to see that the ball is out of her reach, and then goes flying.

"To understand what Vance is doing (and avoiding) with Communion, it’s worth comparing him to the other infamous Millennial striver who keeps telling us her story." Dorothy Fortenberry reviews J. D. Vance’s ‘Communion’ alongside Lena Dunham’s ‘Famesick’: www.commonwealmagazine.org/fortenberry-...
WHY is this SO TRUE THOUGH
For the last few weeks at least, it's felt like the Liberty could play anyone from the Knicks to a collection of the first five people you grab off the sidewalk, and it would end up a single-digit game either way. Determined to play to the level of their competition, good or bad. #WNBA
What having French players on your #WNBA roster looks like.
When this is all over, @willbunch.bsky.social’s columns will remain as evidence to bury anyone who claims they didn’t know how bad things were.
The smell of death surrounds you, Donald Trump Deportees slain in Guatemala. A Haitian woman abandoned at a PGH bus stop. The bomb striking a family in Iran. Detainees in the ICE gulag. Lorenzo Salgado. Renee Good. USAID Dehumanization, then death. My new column www.inquirer.com/opinion/trum...

When you slow down and think about it you realize it's ten times worse than it seems. Sure it's farcical, but it's also a brutal legal attack on a man they knew to be innocent, done to distract from their own thievery and incompetence and as a flex to terrify anyone who might make them look bad.
It is very weird that they just lie about normal people and then it’s not a scandal when they admit it
Fans of "The Office" (BBC or NBC) will enjoy this as much as I do: the Everhart Museum in Scranton, PA, is organizing an overseas group trip called "Scranton to Slough." (Yes, they're planning to visit "nearby London" as well)

Good-faith concern on this issue would be going, "hmm, professional sports leagues should probably have some standards in place to ensure trans competitors aren't getting an unfair advantage," googling for 5 minutes, realizing every sports league already has those standards and dropping it.
i don't believe anyone has "good-faith" concerns about trans women in sports in 2026. there's been too much time to hear the actual evidence, the actual people affected, and the role the debate plays in attempts to purge trans people from American life. anybody picking that side has made a choice
Trump kicked millions off health insurance while failing to check inflation & hiking gas prices so uninsured forego care or end up in ERs racking up unpaid bills & hospital profits fall & they raise rates on the insured & insurers hike premiums - a hell spiral. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/30/b...
After Obamacare Cuts, Hospitals Are Treating More Uninsured Patients
More people who lost coverage after congressional Republicans ended enhanced federal subsidies are now seeking care in emergency rooms and unable to pay bills.

“Trump has rejected disaster aid for Democratic-run states at the highest rate in the 47-year history of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.” Right now people in blue states are basically paying federal taxes as if they’re colonized territories of red states. www.politico.com/news/2026/03...
All the Fauci stuff is a modern day version of the POW/MIA stuff after Vietnam - a way to try to rewrite the history of a huge failure of conservative ideology to be instead a story about how liberals and foreigners stabbed us in the back.
Josh Hawley has a law degree from Yale. He know that "no honest person pleads the fifth" is a lie, and he understands why it's a lie. But he also know that the audience he's performing for doesn't know that and doesn't understand it, and he values the performance over his own honesty.
Josh Hawley self-owned in his questioning and then doubled down.
The broader danger goes far beyond Fauci. Scientists and career public servants are being warned that if their professional judgment conflicts with the political needs of a president, they may face years of investigations, public attacks, and threats of prosecution. www.inquirer.com/opinion/comm...
Congressional questioning of Anthony Fauci isn’t a good-faith effort, it is political persecution | Opinion
There is a difference between oversight and a trap. An honest investigation begins with open-minded questions. This one began with a verdict. And the broader danger goes far beyond Fauci.

The most important news to drop today is that Norbert Leo Butz is coming into Hadestown as Hermes and somehow nobody is talking about it????
I feel like I'm losing my mind. The ONLY REASON most of us know Fauci's name is because, in 2020, we desperately needed a person with expertise to save us from disaster, and, lucky us, he was the right man in the right job at the right moment! But Trump wouldn't take the W. So here we are.
Aside from being rude, it’s just a dumb question. He was head of the national infectious disease institute. It’s not like he was some guy who got above his station and started giving orders with no prerogative or expertise.
"Page goes up and down the spiral stairs of Rachel Hauck's set with a quickness" Does he??? Or do they cut away from him at the top of the steps and teleport him to the bottom through the magic of cinema? I think I know the answer, but I guess I better see it again to be sure... #Hadestown

I want to add that I regret the way Girl Scouts, as a program, catches strays herein. In some places, GS provides a robust outdoor adventure program just like Scouts BSA does. And even at its most basic, GS exists to build girls up in a culture that still denies their inate potential and value.
I LOVED this essay in the NYT about the "triumph" of girls in Scouting America (gift link). The girls' troops that began in 2019 are doing amazing things. I've found most people in Scouting are supportive of the belated inclusivity, and this piece refutes the hostility of naysayers so elegantly.
