I’m teaching a class this semester (yay!), and thought I would try out an “AI detector” to see if it could be an effective tool. The terrible irony is that I am using an AI tool to track itself. But the worst part is I used something I wrote to test its accuracy and it said it was “49% AI.” WTF.

Four of my neighbors on my block have been in their homes for more than 50 years. More than half the people on my block have lived here 20+ years. (Including me!) And about 75% have lived here 10+ years. That blows my mind! Generations of stories and community about just one block.

I’m not a parent, but a caregiver/step parent-type to a 14-year-old. Something happened with them recently that has really shaken my foundation. I was witnessing them lie to me repeatedly in a whole manufactured, manipulative story that kept unfolding in real-time. And it GUTTED ME.

Sometimes I like to imagine she does these things on purpose and is just laying there trying really hard not to laugh. Like in her mind she’s an amazing dog comic. “Humans sleep like this…do do do… look at me, I am a human. I sleep like I am in a coffin…do do doo…”

Long🧵: One of the things I think about too much is how core beliefs are shaped by power, and what that means for the ways we live our lives. For example: healthcare. Not just the hoarding and cost of it. But also how healthcare has been defined versus what it actually means. 1/

Woke up thinking about Kaohly Her, as any normal person does. And I can’t stop thinking about sexual harassment and power, and how easily we define “power” and “authority” by workplace hierarchy. As if fleeting economic conditions disrupt entire histories and entrenched power. 1/

Last year, a neighbor I often referred to as “Gunshots Tina” moved away. One can easily imagine how many neighborhood alerts asking “fireworks or gunshots?” a person (me) has been forced to see before some asshole (me) starts using this name “in jest” among a select few other assholes. Anyway:

It's crazy to me that MN Republicans want to run Mr. My Pillow. Not because of who or how terrible he is, but bc it seems wholly unwinnable. This means either I'm wrong, and numbers show something wild. Or they have a strategy to just use him as the stump shill to win the state House and Senate.

So far that story tells us that Her is wildly inappropriate and unfit for her job; she is being set up by cops (acab); or she is so bad at and miserable in a job she didn’t want or expect to get in the first place she will do whatever it takes to get out. Or maybe it is all of the above.

It’s wild to think that someone, possibly an editor, would be proofing this article and go, “Hey, we should probably include an explanation as to what Weinering is in this article to help add context to this story.” And everyone agreed it was a good add.

People who have heat pumps: Are they known for being this shitty when it’s this hot and humid? I had to get a separate de-humidifier. The system is *struggling.* It can’t get the downstairs to even 77 degrees and the upstairs is 15 degrees hotter. Is it me? Am I doing something wrong? Or it…it?

Can you even fathom what it takes to be Gwen Walz level of petty? To be so deeply vindictive, undermining, and careless toward someone you had a long-term familial relationship with? To be so bereft of integrity and humanity you stoop to such public shittiness?

It’s amazing crickets exist in the numbers they do. Given the way humans define nature as a “nuisance” and create and use products to destroy it, we are so lucky to still hear the constant, rapid thrum of hundreds of crickets all night. As if EDM were a lullaby.

It’s taken me decades to realize , but I’m *terrible* at and around performative sarcasm. I mean, I’m absolutely over-the-top ridiculous and weird. And cynical and dark. And “many people” say I’m “funny!” But a beat-driven sarcasm freezes me in my tracks. I don’t know what to do with it!

I really hope we see some good lettuce diarrhea crop art at the Minnesota State Fair this year. Trump’s melting face as a head of lettuce. Diarrhea coming from his mouth in the form of words. As red skies and a thick cloud of wildfire smoke threaten to suffocate his diarrhea lettuce head.
