IME, loving others and loving yourself go hand in hand, and it’s very hard to have one without the other. Part of why they reject empathy is because they hate themselves. So much of evangelicalism is performative perfection, hiding and denying how broken you are inside.

I am excited for this although since the calvinball court has given blank check approval on all “official” presidential acts, the next dem should simply remove whichever judges they like and replace them. The new court can rebuke and rein in the executive and remain seated and we’re all better off
jamelle@jamellebouie.net · 5d agowill try to answer these in a piece next week but for now i will say that part of the *point* of court expansion, in my mind, is to create a disequilibrium — a potential race to the bottom — that will force a truce.
worth also noting that both the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti happened in her district, and on top of the obviously racist targeting of her personally this is also an attempt to deny the people of Minneapolis their democratically elected representative
