Mum often told me that when she went into labour with me, she refused to leave until the end of ep4 of The Six Wives of Henry VIII (Anne of Cleves, a repeat). Hadn't realised it was the same night Apollo 14 launched. I've seen the command module Kitty Hawk in Florida!

Watched a Play for Today last night - Catchpenny Twist - about two songwriters in Northern Ireland trying to write the next Irish Eurovision winner. It's very "ohhh the Troubles!" kind of miserable but it stars a young Gerald Murphy from Silver Nemesis. Didn't know he was from Newry.

Two weeks ago, I went to Blackpool and had the worst fish n chips ever. Weird orange corn batter and grey chips. Not naming names, as the cod was clearly decent quality but what the Mother did to it was just a crime. I'm still in shock.

Pretty obviously that last repost was not my doing. Also odd considering my phone's been locked for four hours for film reasons. Reported and blocked!! Worrying though. The old place is full of spam bots and now it looks like they're here to ruin things too.

My 09.37 train to Liverpool South Parkway was cancelled so I was lucky to get a seat on the 10.07. It's a 45 min trip. At around 10.45, the train was halted just outside Penketh after it hit someone. I don't know how and won't speculate further. We arrived at Liverpool Lime Street at 1.20.

Just finished reading Solace House, the latest novel from my old chum Will Maclean. Beautifully crafted, genuinely unsettling in places. There's a revelation late on that made me gasp and chuckle and marvel at Will's mind.

A painting of a house that ripples away at the bottom.

Watched The Detective (1968) the other night.Okay so Die Hard (1988) is its sequel but the big shocker is how liberal Frank Sinatra is as the lead. Quietly rebuking colleagues for racism / homophobia and stroking the hand of a gay suspect to coax a confession. Felt like a progressive mid 70s film.
