I am a student doing vision neuroscience research, focusing on IT cortex.

Many of the scientific questions we're interested in tackling require studying learning over long periods of time across the brain. This is challenging – which is why we're excited to say we've been developing a system for chronic wireless recording using long Neuropixels probes in macaque monkeys.

Our newest design of minimized, manual insertion system for Deep Neuropixels recording. The whole setup costs just 1600 RMB (less than 250 USD), and drift stability on a par with hydraulic micro-manipulator.

Finally, today is the day: Josefine Zerbe will present and release our new multi-echo 7T fMRI dataset LAION-fMRI during #VSS2026, with >30 fMRI session per subject and unprecedented stimulus diversity. Come to Talk Room 1 (Scene perception) today at 5:15. Details will follow in a separate thread!

Neuromatch has been denied our Office of Foreign Assets Control "Iran license" renewal. We had renewed successfully before, but now our request is “inconsistent with current U.S. foreign policy.” I am absolutely gutted by this denial.

We have difficult news to share. Neuromatch's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) license renewal, which has allowed us to include participants residing in Iran since 2020, has been denied by the United States Government.

🔵 Proud to share our new preprint 🔵 We compared humans and deep neural networks on sound localization 👂📍 Humans robustly localized OOD sounds even without primary interaural cues (ITD & ILD) Models localized well only in-training distribution sounds, failing on OOD regime Link & full story 🧵👇

What shapes the topography of high-level visual cortex? Excited to share a new pre-print addressing this question with connectivity-constrained interactive topographic networks, titled "Retinotopic scaffolding of high-level vision", w/ Marlene Behrmann & David Plaut. 🧵 ↓ 1/n

Kilosort4 detects a LOT of neurons, I recorded 15k neurons in one year 🤯 Traditionally, one would curate these detected units to see if they are well isolated single neurons. This is not feasible anymore, so today let's look at three options that are out there to automate this process! 🤖👇
