It’s finally in my hands! Tim and Evil hat have really done something special with this book and it’s truly impressive how a simple change in setting or tone can make John’s original ideas sparkle.

After almost two months of renovations, travel, illness, and more, I’m going to try to re-commit to the gym today. Wish me luck.
Excited for Blades 68? Enjoy a teaser of some of the custom content I’m working on.
NEW: Blades '68 advances the timeline and the technology of Doskvol one hundred years into the future. Subversive spy games, daring heists, and paranormal mindbenders all await you in this official expansion for Blades in the Dark. From @olddog.games @evilhat.bsky.social
The collection of stretch goal material for Blades '68 grew so large that it has exploded from the Palace Dossier into THE BLUE FILES. It's almost 60 pieces, from an amazing array of contributors.
14 hours and under $1k to reach the More Money for Artists stretch goal. Will it happen? Let’s find out! www.kickstarter.com/projects/117...

Back when I started Explorers, I probably had a readership of about 50 people a month. This post is from then. It's a list of common mistakes disguised as theory. If your readers are getting confused, these laws might explain why. www.explorersdesign.com/gestalt-laws/

Designing playbooks for Blades and its spinoffs is always so fun. The official sheets from each book have conventions that you can mimic or subvert. A mix of broad permissions and conservative rules-based bonuses. And a few options thoroughly bend the core rules.
Hypothesis: Austin Powers has Mojo but he does not possess much in the way of Soul. It thereby follows that possessing Mojo is detrimental to one’s capacity for Soul and vice-versa. What say you?
Reading through the Blades 68 pdf and these playbooks are great! More tightly directed than the original playbooks but that feels right given the setting. Coming up with new playbooks for this edition will be a fun challenge!
Backers got their PDFs for Blades '68 yesterday, which means I can finally post the next installment of my Blades in the Dark blog post series: a deep dive into B68's lore! Let's learn about how this groovy new age connects to the older canon... injectorseat.wordpress.com/2026/07/14/p...

Blades in the Dark goes groovy! Let’s move over 100 years ahead…

Continuing my series of Blades in the Dark blog posts, this one's about something unexpected: reconstructing an implied prequel version of Doskvol ~300 years earlier than the base game for a hypothetical game about the fall of the Lost District. injectorseat.wordpress.com/2026/06/30/p...
So many amazing runs this year at Summer Games Done Quick and they end it with one of the most amazing Kaizo showcases I’ve ever seen and an astoundingly deep Clair Obscur speedrun! Congrats to them and to Doctors Without Borders for reaching 2.4 million.
A reminder that I hate LLMs that don’t ask for consent from, provide credit to, or compensate the people whose data they train on. Which is all of them. Also the people who knowingly exploit and promote them. So please get bent.
I ran my first session of #Realis last night and I thought I'd share some of my thoughts about it! Realis is the debut tabletop rpg of Austin Walker and produced by Possible World Games. The game's setting and theme are extremely broad w/o being generic, something I'll briefly expand upon.
A lot of expensive dice have extremely low, or even NO contrast numbering and it makes me so livid. A vanity die should still perform the function of a die without me having to whip out the ol’ wax pencil.
Dice gripes: Symbols instead of numbers -You know, we already have a number that means that number. Just use that. Low contrast designs -Picking up the die to read it kills the whole vibe -Saps the shared emotional experience of instant recognition of a meaningful roll Inscrutable Fonts -see above
Very excited to run an exploratory session of Realis. Lightly worried it won't vibe with my table (we haven't gotten on well with the Belonging Outside Belonging system games we've tried and Realis has some of that same dna) but it shows a lot of promise!
Did something happen to rehabilitate Luke Crane? Am I the only one who remembers his embarrassing attempt to dupe a bunch of popular creators into supporting his canceled buddy? Why do I keep seeing his name mentioned in a positive light?
It’s official. “Resonance” and its many variations is the mysterious and cool video game word of 2026.
I have my hands on the Realis PDF! My machinations shift ever closer towards their final form.

There is a lot of discourse around Mina the Hollower not being the specific kind of game people expected, but I think the game is really great.
Been working away at designing a custom character for #SlayTheSpire2 and I think I've landed on a fun art style.
I think I’ve nailed down my Slay the Spire character concept. Now to figure out the modding situation!
My favorite TTRPG classes: 1. Battle Jock 2. Wizard with Imposter Syndrome 3. Battle Dad 4. Thief Rogue, P.I. 5. Jokester with a Terminal Illness
My favorite TTRPG classes: 1. Sentient object 2. Animal cursed to be a human 3. Scumbag with a heart of pyrite 4. Finger Gunz 5. Undercover Dracula
Entertaining myself by designing a Slay the Spire OC. This little freak is a healer and mystic who harnesses the very infestation that is eating him alive.
