Spot the difference. We didn't 5x the Cycleways network in London overnight. It took vision, hard work, & the conviction to invest in green infrastructure - often in the face of vocal opposition. In 2016, we had 90km of Cycleways. Now we're at 450km. That's progress. And we're not stopping there.

I generally stay out of these debates about how COVID was handled - the pandemic period was one of the most challenging times of my life, and the absolutism on both sides drives me spare. But the idea that the UK was overly deferential to expertise is for the birds

Just finished @sarahoconnorft.ft.com excellent “We Are Not Machines” - thoughtful and interesting take on AI impact on the workplace. Surprisingly optimistic and the last chapter on the care sector is very moving. No hesitation in recommending especially if you need a break from AI doomsday takes.

I had known Jim for over 20yrs. He was one of the great communicators about fixed income. But most of all he was lovely, charming man and wonderful friend. Thoughts and prayers with his family, friends and former colleagues at M&G. Tailwinds, mate. I’ll miss you terribly.
