Am wandering around neighborhood bookstores in Washington State (some people taste local cuisine, I taste local literary curation) and it's been fun to learn that the Wilson Odyssey is sold out everywhere, backordered from the distributor etc. Other translations are on display: good knock on effect.

Sometimes your friend is both someone you love talking to AND a total genius on the exact topic you also like to nerd out in. Book as object, book as information management, formal experiment as mimesis, and also Irish literature a little. If you also want to know these things, read Julia's book!
reading the bookforum review of Middlemen and I expect that the scholarly publishing equivalent of the agent is the freelance developmental editor. if conglomeration drove the rise of the agent, austerity drove the rise of the latter—the editor who actually edits, helps w/ the proposal, etc.
