Now that Canadian publications flatly refuse to publish critical reviews--how is that going for us? Do we have a more vibrant literary dialogue? Gushing replies only, please.
Catherine Owen@cowenwriter.bsky.social · 3mo agoI get very frustrated by poorly-written books getting published and I get almost as irked that I cannot write a review of these books that points out such problematic errors of fact or syntax as the option these days is "gush with a tiny bit of crit" or "just say nay." Seems rather immature, no?

So for instance, how about a 20 grand prize or grant for book reviewers so they can actually make a living doing this important work for a period of time instead of getting $50-150 per review and most mags only "allowing" one to write one review A YEAR! Reviews are vital for writers, no?
